It is with a great deal of pleasure and confidence that we recommend Carla Brewster as an excellent dog trainer.
To put it simply, Carla “speaks” dog. That comes from her love and compassion for these animals. She is quickly able to imprint herself on each dog in the class, so that when states a command, each dog will feel that the command is specifically for him or her. Moreover, she demonstrates a sincere love for each dog in the class, to the point where, upon arrival, several of the dogs, including our own, would rush to her.
Having used several other trainers, including a couple from the “big box” pet stores, there is a complete difference in Carla’s level of professionalism. The “sweet” talk used by the others in hoping the dogs will respond, is replaced by Carla’s highly professional approach and commitment to assure that the dogs understand each command and follow through with the correct action.
Yet, more importantly, Carla trains the owners, as well. Because of the unconditional love we each share with our pets, we often hesitate to correct our pets. Carla instructs us as to how we can properly our pets’ incorrect actions, in the same way as an Alpha dog would if they were together in a pack. This was an approach we had never seen before with our two previous dogs and learned to appreciate its value.
Although we had to interrupt our training due to a personal injury, we look forward to returning to our lessons with Carla with great anticipation and with the goal of our dog, Kefi, being certified as a Canine Good Citizen and, hopefully, a service dog.
